UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

Policies and Procedures, Standing Rules. Sue has set October 12 to meet and discuss.

Holiday Party Sunday December 3, 5:00 – 8:00. All agreed to accept Roseann’s offer to host the party. Car pools should be arranged.

Fund Raiser. Marcia suggested the program of Hollywood Hats presented by Gloria Heidi. This was suggested at last meeting. Those who have seen it (it was Clayton Valley Woman’s Club program previously) were favorably impressed. Discussion of possibilities as fund raiser. • Ticket sales – we would need to sell maximum number • Suggest every member take 2 tickets – husbands would enjoy it, too. • Probable charge for program for 100 people would be $500 (depends on attendance – find out. • Find out if Concord or Pleasant Hill branches are having this program • Find out cost of library and capacity. • Possibly have program in March. Easter is April 8, 2007. Library has several programs in March. • Check with Holy Cross Lutheran Church for possible location. • Make decision in November

NEW BUSINESS

American Fellowship Endowment for Marie Wolbach (EF). Letter received from Margaret Tutton, President, Palo Alto Branch, and Judy McCord, President, San Carlos Branch, requesting that our EF donation be designated for this endowment. Ms Wolbach inaugurated the Tech Trek program with an EF grant. The Board agreed to so designate our funds received next year. (This is not “named gift” which honors branch member(s))

Speech Trek. This was started in Watsonville for Junior and Senior High School girls. “Education as the gateway to Economic Security.” CA AAUW is asking branches to hold speech contests. Formal program. Judges – expertise. Criteria for judging. Research etc. 4 ½ to 5 ½ minutes long. To be video taped. Branch gives certificate of participation and video copy of speech. Winners district, state etc. Contest to be completed by mid-February. Juniors and seniors. Rosemary thinks it is good outreach. Rosemary talked to Concord Branch President Lana Hamilton. They are participating. Do we want to do it with them? MSC we join Concord in this endeavor. 4 high schools – they have three, we have one. Question of incentives. Branch required to give certificate of participation at branch level plus video. Concord will start in January. JoAnn suggested put in newsletter and asking who will work on it. Marcia and Jeanne said they would work on it.
