TREASURER’S REPORT Jill Day. October 2006 distributed and attached. Cash available $2077.60. It was noted that the books were reviewed by Carol Wolfe before Jill Day took office. All was in perfect order.

MEMBERSHIP. Mary Ann. She will call new members for brief articles about them in newsletter. Possibly use pictures from Directory. Jennifer to decide on which will appear in which month and she may edit.

PUBLIC INFORMATION. Sheila asked for information about meetings, events, etc. early to meet news paper deadlines. Pioneer published every other week.

PUBLIC POLICY. Jeanne reminded everyone of survey. Distributed last meeting, in newsletter, go to AAUW website. Everybody vote.

TECH TREK. Kay sent an application to CBCA for donation. She proposed sending three girls. We may know by January. We have one girl in our budget. Kay suggests having someone go with her to CBCA meeting (3rd Thursdays dinner) in case they would like to ask questions. We do not know what month our request will be on their agenda.

EF. Joan and Rosemary attended the luncheon in Mountain View where recipients introduce themselves and their subjects. One had received money from the Roseann Krane endowment. She had been in Guatamala in the Peace Corps teaching English. We join Concord in putting in our request.

PROGRAM. November 27 meeting at Diamond Terrace. Helen Primus, Diablo Home Economics member will speak on “Making a Difference in the Lives of Orphans and Teenage Girls in Ghana, West Africa.”. She went to Ghana last year on an educational trip. This is AAUW’s 125th birthday. Possibly we could have a small decorated cake. January meeting will be representatives of volunteer groups. Dee Billeter is arranging and has some potential participants.

HOLIDAY PARTY DECEMBER 3, 5 – 8 pm at Roseann’s. Jennifer is sending an “EVITE”. Discussion about response – who is coming and what they are bringing. Try for variety of finger foods. Just a few designated desserts. Call Dee if EVITE is

confusing. Those not receiving E-Mails will be called. Also opportunity to sign up at November 27 meeting. Roseann arranging music from Monte Vista H.S. group.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Fund Raising. Rosemary reported that Concord just had Gloria Heidi for September membership meeting (not a fund raiser). Concord’s president said there were mixed reactions – some thought it was great, some not. It does not seem that this would be a good fund raiser. Further ideas – a play at Town Hall Lafayette, “Wigged Out” in Danville; wine tasting. Discussion of location – look into Dana Hills, Dana Farms, Endeavor Hall on weekdays (weekend nights too expensive). Extra fee for insurance when there is alcohol served. . Diamond Terrace (some limitations). March or April best time. Onstage if it is a good play – last one was not. Maybe two or three events. Consider other ideas and discuss further next meeting.

Policies and Procedures update postponed to next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS.

Nominating Committee. Luz Argyriou, Diana Bauer, Liz Hansen, Allegra Mills, Diane Rogers. They will present slate at November General Meeting.

Speech Trek. Marcia has called the High School and told them about it. Speech Trek packet has been sent. Concord wants to give $500 scholarship to the winner – Watsonville Branch which originated the program did this. They suggested $200 from us and $300 from Concord. There is just one winner. We will inform Concord we do not have the money. There will be an informational article in November newsletter.
