Community Programs:

The Clayton Branch is highly active in community programs. One notable program is the Clayton Library which was begun by the branch and supported by the members. The Association has many community programs as listed below:

Adelante Book Club: By reading books written from the perspectives of diverse cultures, Adelante book of the month club participants broaden their own perspectives.

Bullying Program: Through the National Education Association's Bullying Awareness Campaign program, AAUW offers training to stop bullying and sexual harassment in school. (in Member Center)

Education and Equity: Choices for a Changing World:AAUW offers a portfolio of community projects addressing the many opportunities for women and girls:in work, education, and community:and the circumstances affecting their decisions.

Harassment-Free Hallways : In response to AAUW research documenting that sexual harassment pervades U.S. schools, AAUW convened a national task force of experts to develop this user-friendly resource guide to help parents, students, schools, and school districts keep schools harassment-free.

Leadership Development : AAUW provides leadership development through a library of tool kits for members and nonmembers; conventions and conferences with workshops to hone professional and personal skills; opportunities to serve on local and national boards, panels, and committees; and AAUW's new Leadership and Training Institute.

Legal Advocacy Fund Campus Outreach: The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund educates students and staff about sex discrimination issues; shares ways to address and prevent it; and provides action steps toward creating a more equitable campus climate.

Legal Advocacy Fund Case Support : The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund promotes equity for women in higher education by providing financial support for sex discrimination lawsuits.

On Track Empowerment Training for Faculty: The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides training to college and university faculty to overcome barriers to advancing in academe and achieving tenure.

Open World Russian Leadership Program: This program gives AAUW branches and states, in partnership with the National Peace Foundation, an opportunity to host a group of professional Russian women visiting the United States.

School and Community Project Database: Read about the many school and community projects funded by the AAUW Educational Foundation's Community Action Grants and Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellowships.

Signposts: Signposts offers schools an equity road map for the coming century.

Sister-to-Sister Summits, Summit Follow-Up, and Sisters-in-Action: Sister-to-Sister offers teen girl a forum to talk about their generation's challenges and plan actions for improving their world. While Sister-to-Sister provides a forum for adolescent girls to discuss topics that concern them, Sisters in Action, funded by the AAUW Educational Foundation, extends the work beyond a one-day summit, providing girls with multiple opportunities to address and negotiate the many issues that they face on a day to day basis.

Tech Check: Tech Check helps schools help girls become technology-competent.

Transitions Conferences for Women: These one-day events ease women's educational decision-making at key points in their lives.

Voter Education Campaign: AAUW's more than 100,000 members and 1,300 branches and their coalition partners educate women voters on critical issues and mobilize women to vote, ensuring that women's voices are heard.

Woman-to-Woman Community Dialogues on Social Justice: These talks bring diverse women together to achieve common community goals.
