Board Meeting

November 7, 2005

 

Present: JoAnn Caspar, Luz Argyriou, Jeanne Boyd, Dee Totman, Barbara Fogerson, Allegra Mills, Mary ann Hayes, Sue Kelson, Carol Wolf, Marcia Hart, Kay Lane , Jill Day, Helen Rahimzadeh, Sandi Hanson.

 

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:35 pm by co-president JoAnn Caspar.

 

Secretary: The correction to the minutes were made and approved as corrected.

 

Treasurer’s Report: The treasurers reported the final income from the fashion show  was $784.49. The report was approved and filed for audit.

 

Membership: Discussion among members and there are approximately 9-10 prospective new members and asked each member to contact the prospective member to attend a upcoming meeting in either January or Febuary 2006.

 

Program:

            November 28, 2005 Presentation by Diana and Dr. Ray Bauer on their trip to the Congo will be held at

Diamond Terrace .  Also the Tech Trek attendees are invited to speak about their experience at the camp.

 

            December 4th-Sunday Christmas Party will be held at JoAnn Casper’s Home from 5-8 pm, with entertainment, please make sure to contact Jeanne Boyd at 672-3672 for reservations and to let her know what appetizer or dessert you will be bringing to the party. It was mentioned that since this is the holiday season a homemade item is more preferable, wine will be provided.

 

Education Fund: Dana McDaniel attended the luncheon however no report given. The next luncheon will be on Febuary 23, and held at Audrey Veregge’s Cabana Clubhouse, more details to follow.

 

Public Policy: Sue Kelson encouraged everyone to make sure to vote tomorrow. Also she checked with the Clayton library regarding setting up a display for AAUW, and they have months available in the upcoming year. Barbara Fogerson volunteered to reserve this space with the library –it was discussed that reserving preferably September 2006 for membership month would be best.

 

Diversity:  Marcia Hart  reported that she and Dee Billeter are trying to come up with ideas to entice more diverse group of members to join the organization.  A discussion followed where it would be beneficial if they would contact the principals of the Mt. Diablo Elementary, Diablo View Middle School , Pine Hollow, and Highlands Elementary to begin a discussion with these administrators  regarding the  type of diversity exists in the schools and how  to improve connection  with these diverse groups.

 

Library:  Jeanne Boyd reported the net income from the book sale was approximately $6800. Also that in the spring they will extend the book bag sale hours due to its popularity.

 

Old Business:  JoAnn Caspar passed out related correspondence to members.

NOTE: The next board meeting will be held on January 9th-Monday instead of the first Monday due to the New Years Holiday at Allegra Mills home at 7:30 pm .
